Builders Club

Builders Club is associated with Kiwanis Club International. The mission of Builders Club is to involve middle school students in school and community service while developing quality leaders and citizens. Builders Club inspires people to better our world by helping the children of the world. The next step for club members is to join the Key Club while in high school.

We are fortunate at St. Stephen’s School because we have a very active club. In the past few years our club has built a playground for children in a shantytown in Lima, Peru.   We have paid for medical services for a very sick child named Chaim in Israel.  The club has purchased equipment for the physical education program as well as giving Mrs. Jessup $500 to spend on the music program. Two years ago, Builders Club donated money to the Community Center “Tot Lot’ and painted their butterfly houses. They donated $500 to “Summer of Jazz”, $2000 to children in Africa, and $500 to the American Red Cross. Altogether their fundraising efforts netted $5500! Last year lockers were purchased and money donated to the church for the kitchen project. Not bad for a little school of 155 students! This year we plan on really focusing on poor children around the world by helping their lives to be a little better.

The Kiwanis Club of Glenwood Springs helps to support us by providing a club advisor and a faculty advisor. These advisors attend weekly meetings that take place during the lunch hour. To keep the meetings running smoothly, “Robert’s Rules of Order” are implemented.

We appreciate the support you as students, parents and faculty give us when you come to a pancake breakfast, buy a snack, or get your car washed. Our kids learn valuable lessons in learning to help others less fortunate than themselves. By giving of their time and services, they will carry on this attribute as adults in service to their communities.
